The Egyptian government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hutchison Ports – a subsidiary of CK Hutchison, the Hong Kong-listed conglomerate – in August relating to the construction of a container terminal in the port of Abu Qir on the country's Mediterranean coast.

A new container terminal will augment the ancient Mediterranean port of Alexandria.
