Smart and green products on agenda at spring lighting expos

The 16th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) and 2nd Smart Lighting Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will run from 6 to 9 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Some 1,000 exhibitors will present the latest lighting products and components to an audience of global buyers.

This year the twin lighting fairs will feature a strong focus on environmentally friendly lighting products while at the same time showcasing the latest connected and customised lighting technology, under the “Go Smart - Live Green” banner.

A new Greenovation zone at the Lighting Fair will showcase green lighting and smart home products in response to the increasing demand for sustainable solutions.

Meanwhile, the Smart Lighting Expo will present the latest connected lighting technologies and solutions, and will feature digital displays and signage products for the first time.

A comprehensive range of products will be displayed across zones such as Connectivity and Creativity, Health and Wellness and more covering commercial, decorative, residential, technical and lighting accessories categories.

Alongside the exhibition, the Asia Lighting Forum on 6 April and Smart Lighting Solutions Forum on 7 April will also be held to highlight the latest trends and developments in the lighting industry.

Industry experts will discuss a range of contemporary issues confronting the industry including how enterprises should prepare for the new EU regulations, and  how the industry is adapting to current social trends such as increasing attention to sustainability outcomes, human wellbeing and care-giving.

Home-grown tech on display

Among the exhibitors at this year’s fair will be Hong Kong LED strip lighting company Huitron which specialises in high-end LED strip lighting products under the COOLIGHT brand. The company holds over 70 patents pending as well as various international certifications including winning the German “Red Dot Award” in 2021 for its silicon waterproof LED strip xRibbon.

The company has built an entire LED strip light production line providing one-stop services in R&D, production and sales with an annual output exceeding 12 million metres from its production facility in Shenzhen. From there its products are exported to over 60 countries and regions of which the European market accounts for 49%.

This year, the company will bring both new and classic products to the fair. "At last year's exhibition, we established contact with many potential buyers worldwide,” said company manger Zhen Meifeng. “I firmly believe that the lighting fair will not only help consolidate the company's advantages in the European and American markets but also assist us in exploring substantial opportunities in the Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, and Belt and Road markets, expanding our global business."
