Robots that run, dance, play football and even serve coffee will be among the headline attractions when Hong Kong welcomes thousands of technology companies from around the world at four major trade fairs this October.
Some 6,200 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions are expected to take part in the events organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), bringing the latest advances in electronics, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, smart lighting and future industries to the city.
First up are the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia, which will bring more than 3,200 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 13 to 16 October.
Robots on the move
A major draw will be the RoboPark zone, where more than 120 robots will demonstrate use cases spanning commercial services, industrial and logistics operations, entertainment, healthcare and rehabilitation.
Visitors will encounter some of the biggest names in the fast-growing robotics industry. AgiBot, described as the world's leading humanoid robot manufacturer by shipment volume in the first half of 2026, will join Shenzhen Honor Smart Technology Development, whose humanoid robot won the 2026 Beijing E-Town Half Marathon.
Booster Robotics, champion of the 2026 RoboCup, will also participate, while UBTECH will present a next-generation full-sized humanoid robot designed for "urban coexistence". VIGX Technology will take robot technology in a different direction with what it describes as the world's first "pocket-sized" AI exoskeleton robot, designed to offer a portable alternative to bulky industrial exoskeletons.
The technology will not just be behind display cases. RoboPark will stage robot football, dance battles and dog demonstrations, while visitors can enjoy coffee and popcorn served by robot waiters.
Elsewhere, the fair's more than 20 themed areas will feature products spanning AI, robotics, wellness and entertainment. In the Immersive Experience Zone, visitors can try VR and AR technology, including brainwave-controlled sensors that allow people to play games hands-free.
Future industries, global markets
A new Future Industries Zone will bring together more than 100 exhibitors in computing, manufacturing, marine and quantum technologies, microelectronics and wellness.
For companies looking beyond their home markets, the new GoGlobal Connect Zone will link Chinese Mainland enterprises with Hong Kong professional services providers and offer insights into market entry, financing, risk management, compliance and brand building.
Held alongside the Electronics Fair, electronicAsia will broaden the sourcing experience, focusing on semiconductors, sensors, electronic components and manufacturing technologies that are increasingly important to AI development and digital transformation.
Beyond illumination
Later in October, attention turns to lighting. Around 3,000 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions are expected at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), running at the HKCEC from 27 to 30 October, and the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo at AsiaWorld-Expo from 26 to 29 October.
Under the theme Beyond Illumination, the events will explore smart connectivity, sustainability and new immersive experiences.
The Hall of Connected Lighting will present more than 60 brands and immersive installations. Dutch lighting brand Signify and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team will offer an on-site racing simulator enhanced by lighting technology, while the Mirrorverse installation presented by Viliya will use crystal chandeliers, table lamps and mirrors to create a distinctive spatial experience.
A new LED Display Solution Zone will feature video walls, flexible panels and immersive audio-visual systems. Meanwhile, the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo will showcase the latest smart poles, technical lighting and energy-efficient urban solutions.
Beyond the exhibition halls, the EXHIBITION+ online catalogue and Click2Match business matching service enable buyers and suppliers to connect online before and after the physical events.
Highlighting the business opportunities created by the fairs HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu said this year’s initiatives would help companies “connect with funding, talent, technology and international markets”, while encouraging more Mainland enterprises to leverage Hong Kong “for expanding into international markets”.
