A key event commemorating Hong Kong Trade Development Council&rsquo;s 60th anniversary this year, the Next 60 Forum was held on 16 June 2026 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Themed "Retrospect and Prospect", the Forum kicked off with a pre-recorded address by Former HKTDC Chairman Baroness Dunn. HKTDC Chairman Prof Frederick Ma personally invited several former Chairmen, including Dr Victor Fung, Peter Woo, Jack So and Vincent Lo, to serve as forum guests, while he himself served as the moderator. The guests reflected on how the HKTDC has developed alongside Hong Kong's economic transformation, exchanged insights on opportunities and challenges amid global shifts, and explored how Hong Kong can further strengthen its role as a superconnector and super value-adder.

HKTDC 60th Anniversary — Next 60 Forum

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with a series of commemorative events. Two key events &ndash; the Next 60 Forum and 60th Anniversary Cocktail Reception &ndash; were held today, attracting over 1,000 guests from the political and business sectors. HKTDC Chairman Prof Frederick Ma personally invited several former Chairmen, including Dr Victor Fung, Peter Woo, Jack So and Vincent Lo, to serve as forum guests, while he himself served as the moderator. Together, they reviewed how the HKTDC has developed and looked ahead to future opportunities. Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Paul Lam, officiated at the reception and joined leaders from various sectors in witnessing this important milestone.

HKTDC celebrates 60th anniversary with forum and cocktail reception

Established in 1966, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has evolved in tandem with Hong Kong. In the 1960s, Hong Kong shifted from being a trade entrep&ocirc;t to a vibrant manufacturing powerhouse. During this pivotal era, the HKTDC advanced Hong Kong&rsquo;s exports, championing local products across international markets. In the 1980s and 1990s, as Hong Kong transitioned to a service-led economy, the HKTDC furthered the city&rsquo;s reputation as a capital of world-class trade fairs and helped grow the burgeoning service sector. Following China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001, the HKTDC promoted Hong Kong's role as a two-way platform &mdash; serving as both a gateway for overseas enterprises to invest in or enter the Chinese Mainland market and for mainland enterprises to go global. In the past decade, the HKTDC has capitalised on key national initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to promote Hong Kong&rsquo;s unique strengths and advantages as an international gateway. Through its role as superconnector and super value-adder, the HKTDC continues to drive growth and innovation for businesses in Hong Kong and beyond. Over 60 years, the HKTDC has thrived amidst global challenges and change. Looking ahead, the HKTDC remains committed to helping Hong Kong enterprises innovate and excel.

HKTDC – 60 years of connecting the world, shaping the future

The 10th Belt and Road Summit, jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), concluded successfully on 11th September 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the theme &ldquo;Collaborate for Change &bull; Shape a Shared Future,&rdquo; the Summit celebrated its milestone edition by convening 100 key officials and business leaders from 16 Belt and Road countries and regions, exploring collaboration amid economic uncertainty. Attracting over 6,200 business participants from more than 70 countries and regions, the event facilitated a record 45 Memoranda of Understanding (9 G2G, 36 B2B), reinforcing Hong Kong&rsquo;s role as a &ldquo;super connector&rdquo; and &ldquo;super value-adder&rdquo;. Over 300 matched investment projects were showcased, with more than 800 one-to-one project matching meetings arranged, alongside over 120 exhibitors in zones like the new ASEAN Zone, InnoTech Zone, and Chinese Mainland Zone. New highlights included the Signature Belt and Road Projects Session on major infrastructure in Thailand and Saudi Arabia, and the Middle East &amp; ASEAN Market Focus session, fostering cross-regional dialogues and sustainable partnerships. The eleventh Belt and Road Summit will take place on 9 -10 September 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre &mdash; we look forward to welcoming you!
