The Business of IP Asia Forum will be held in Hong Kong on 5 and 6 December, bringing together creators, innovators and leading experts from the intellectual property, legal, technology and creative industry sectors to network, exchange insights on recent intellectual property (IP) and innovation market moves, and explore business opportunities.
Organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the annual event will offer an engaging programme of activities including forums, workshops and business matching sessions.
Sessions and panels for industry professionals include discussions on topics such as finance and valuing IP, the impact of AI on copyright, as well as the responsible use of AI to create and grow businesses.
A half-day session will gather policymakers and enterprise representatives from countries in ASEAN to explore utilising IP commercialisation and trading to promote growth in the arts and creative industries.
Catering to the rising interest in AI solutions, a number of sessions will consider the impact of AI on sectors as diverse as food and agriculture, communications, sustainability, real estate and sports.
The forum will be held concurrent with Entrepreneur Day, featuring opportunities and services tailor-made for start-ups and providing numerous synergies between IP practitioners, entrepreneurs and start-up founders.
For those seeking an introduction to IP protection, a series of workshops will be held over the two days covering fundamental knowledge of legal registration and enforcement of IP, as well as strategies on how to manage, exploit and trade patents, copyrights and original designs.
The Innovation and IP Market exhibition zone will provide the opportunity for IP owners to explore the comprehensive IP support services provided in Hong Kong from legal firms, patent and trademark registration companies and industry organisations and associations.
As part of the zone, universities and institutes will present the latest highlights from their research programmes related to smart cities, encompassing novel products and technologies in healthcare, food, robotics, materials, energy and recycling.
The 2023 event attracted over 2,500 participants, encompassing owners of original properties, patents and designs, businesses seeking licences and franchising opportunities, and representatives from the professional services sector.
