China Releases Intellectual Property Pledge Financing Plan

China has announced it will strive to roll out intellectual property (IP) pledge financing in over 100 industrial parks and offer IP pledge financing to 10,000 micro, small and medium-sized firms by 2023. IP pledge financing allows enterprises to pledge their intangible assets – including trademarks, patents and copyrights – in order to obtain funds. The plan includes giving financial institutions support in expanding their IP pledge loans provided the risks are manageable.
