Guangdong Strengthens Traceability of Imported Cold-Chain Food
03 June 2021
The Guangdong government recently announced that entities or individuals engaged in activities related to imported cold-chain food in the province must now be registered with the “Guangdong Frozen and Refrigerated Food Traceability System” and report all entry and exit information within two days. Imported frozen food must have an entry cargo inspection and quarantine certificate, a disinfection certificate and an accompanying “traceability code” affixed in a prominent position on the outer packaging or at the venue where it is sold.
Full details can be found in a circular issued on May 10 by a Guangdong special work team focused on epidemic prevention and control in farmers’ markets (No. 102 [2021]). The new rules will remain in force until efforts to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19 come to an end.
