China Further Strengthens Supervision of Online Live-streaming Marketing Activities

The Cyberspace Administration of China and six other government departments recently released a trial guideline to regulate the online live-streaming marketing sector. The guideline will take effect on 25 May 2021.
Online marketing platforms that provide live-streaming service are required to complete record-filing and conduct safety assessment in accordance with laws and regulations. They must establish effective mechanisms for the registration and cancellation of live-streaming accounts and marketing activities, marketing code of conduct, protection of minors, consumer rights protection, personal data protection, and network and data security management.
