New Registration Rules for Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Foods to Take Effect in 2022

The Administrative Provisions on Registration of Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Foods recently revised by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) (GAC Decree No. 248 ) will come into force on 1 January 2022. According to these provisions, the GAC is responsible for administrative work relating to the registration of overseas manufacturers of imported foods. All overseas manufacturing, processing and storage enterprises exporting foods to China (excluding manufacturing, processing and storage enterprises of food additives and food related products) must register with the GAC .
The registration of overseas manufacturers of imported foods is valid for five years. Application for the renewal of registration may be submitted to the GAC within three to six months before the expiration date.
