China Releases Rules for Express Mail Packaging

On 8 February, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) released administrative measures relating to the use of packaging materials for express mail, methods of packaging and relevant supervision (MOT Order No. 1 [2021]). Post and delivery enterprises are required to pack their express mail according to the nature, size and weight of items and in keeping with the principles of environmental protection and frugality. They are also encouraged to set up recycling facilities at their place of business or processing and to establish and improve upon corresponding working mechanisms and business processes for the recycling and reuse of packaging materials.
