Plan for Hongqiao Hub of Shanghai Covers Suzhou and Zhejiang
16 March 2021
On 22 February, the National Development and Reform Commission released a plan for the construction of the Hongqiao international hub in Shanghai(Fa Gai Di Qu No. 249 [2021]). The hub, which will have “one core and two extended strips” is slated for completion in 2035.
“One core” refers to Hongqiao’s 151-km2 business district. The two extended strips extend northwards and southwards to the Suzhou Industrial Park in Suzhou and to Haining in Zhejiang. Together they will form an international central business district (CBD) and an international business district with cultural characteristics and tourism functions.
