China Allows Import of Recycled Brass, Copper and Aluminium Raw Materials
30 October 2020
In order to regulate the import of recycled brass, copper and aluminum alloy raw materials and promote the high-quality development of the recycled metals industry, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and three other government departments recently announced that materials that meet the standards of recycling materials for brass (GB/T 38470-2019), recycling materials for copper (GB/T 38471-2019) and recycling materials for cast aluminium alloys (GB/T 38472-2019) are not solid wastes and can be imported freely. Materials that do not meet the above national standards may not be imported, apart from those already covered by a 2020 import licence for solid wastes that can be used as materials under the restricted import of copper scrap and aluminium scrap. The announcement (No. 43 [2020]) takes effect on 1 November 2020.
