China Steps Up Implementation of National IP Strategy
08 June 2020
The Office of the Inter-Ministerial Joint Meeting on the Implementation of the Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy of the State Council recently issued a plan for implementing China’s national IP strategy and accelerating the country’s development as a powerful IP nation (Guo Zhi Zhan Lian Ban No. 5 [2020]).
The plan, which covers 100 projects in five areas, looks to deepen reforms in the IP field and to strengthen IP protection. Measures outlined include establishing a mechanism for value-added audit and disclosure in patent-intensive industries, improving biodiversity protections and the knowledge database relating to biological genetic resources, accelerating the establishment of a database and directory for the preservation of knowledge in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, and formulating regulations for the preservation of traditional Chinese medicine.
