The global licensing sector – including licensors, brands, agents and licensees – will assemble in Hong Kong later this month to explore business opportunities and exchange the latest market insights.
Two flagship industry events – the Hong Kong International Licensing Show (HKILS) and the Asian Licensing Conference (ALC) – will take place concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 28-30 April, underpinning Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s main licensing hub.
HKILS 2025 is expected to attract more than 330 exhibitors displaying more than 600 brands and IPs, offering a diverse array of licensing opportunities.
This year’s show will include some 30 panda IPs, reflecting a growing panda economy in Hong Kong after two bears were gifted to the city last year.
University students in Hong Kong will also display new creative IPs as part of a new initiative to showcase young talent, called the Hong Kong Licensing Force.
The Design Licensing and Business Support Scheme is also returning to HKILS to spotlight more than 40 emerging Hong Kong designers.
Meanwhile, global industry executives will discuss the latest market trends and developments at ALC.
Some of this year’s highlights include presentations on two iconic properties: Peanuts, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and the Smurfs, in a session on how to combine fun and sustainability.
Another discussion will feature senior representatives from two major museums in Egypt, who will talk about how cultural institutions are adopting new creative approaches, such as immersive experiences and gaming, to create new licensing opportunities.
Other sessions will analyse global licensing trends, the China opportunity and more.
To help facilitate cross-sector inspiration and collaboration, this year’s licensing show and conference are being held concurrently with five other lifestyle events: HKTDC Gifts and Premium Fair, Fashion InStyle, Home InStyle, Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair and DeLuxe Printpack.
