HKTDC’s GreenBiz HK campaign in Bangkok deepens regional ties.

Listen

Hong Kong’s profile in green technology, design and services received a boost in Southeast Asia this week, as the GreenBiz HK promotional campaign – organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) – concluded in Bangkok.

Opening the campaign was a four-day delegation visit beginning on 17 March bringing together some 20 representatives from Hong Kong’s architecture, engineering, smart city development, ESG advisory and green technology sectors. The group met industry associations and major developers to explore partnerships with Thai firms.

A highlight of the campaign was the GreenBiz HK Forum featuring leading government and business figures from Hong Kong and Thailand exploring cross‑border collaboration in green finance, innovation and sustainable development. Discussions covered Hong Kong’s strengths as an international green finance hub, the latest applications of green technologies, green buildings and smart city solutions, practical insights into decarbonisation and ESG strategies, as well as a demonstration of how innovative financing tools are accelerating corporate ESG transformation.

Speakers included representatives from Hong Kong property companies, financial institutions, sustainability think-tanks, research institutes, engineering firms and more.

The Governor of Bangkok Dr Chadchart Sittipunt welcomed over 550 participants to the event and noted it served as an important platform connecting Hong Kong’s green strengths with Bangkok’s sustainable development ambitions through meaningful business partnerships.

Among the Thai companies attending, a senior representative of Charoen Pokphand Group shared the company’s experience in renewable energy and environmental technologies, noting how Hong Kong’s capital platforms, professional services and global connectivity can support Thai enterprises in advancing the Bio–Circular–Green (BCG) economic model and expanding overseas. Thailand’s National Innovation Agency also highlighted the country’s progress in smart city development and expressed interest in leveraging Hong Kong’s multi-disciplinary strengths to accelerate regional sustainability.

Alongside the forum, the HKTDC organised business matching to help participants translate the forum’s dialogue into concrete partnership opportunities, supporting practical progress in green technology, urban innovation and the energy transition.

The GreenBiz HK campaign in Bangkok is one of the key events under the Economic and Trade Express (ETE), a functional platform designed to help Hong Kong SMEs and start-ups explore business opportunities in overseas markets, while encouraging more enterprises to invest in and establish operations in Hong Kong.

With a focus on driving cross‑sector collaboration through sustainability, GreenBiz HK aims to leverage the city’s capital markets and professional expertise to support sustainable investment and international expansion across Southeast Asia and the Chinese Mainland.

Building on the success of the campaign in Bangkok, the initiative will continue to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a regional connector for green business, translating sustainability ambitions into tangible commercial outcomes.
