Some 60,000 buyers from 142 countries and regions have wrapped up a busy four days of trading, sourcing and networking at the 45th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and 28th electronicAsia exhibitions.

The events welcomed more than 3,200 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions, all eager to showcase their latest electronic products, innovation concepts and cutting-edge applications to an international audience.

A vibrant business atmosphere permeated the events, underscored by survey findings that revealed strong optimism among participants. According to a survey conducted during the fair, 51% of respondents expect sales growth in the next 12 to 24 months.

The Middle East, Korea, India, and ASEAN countries were identified as the most promising markets. In parallel, 44% of industry insiders reported exploring or applying Generative AI technologies, particularly in product design, customer service, and marketing — reflecting the sector’s embrace of digital transformation.

Robots on show

Robotic technologies designed for multiple scenarios took centre stage at the new RoboPark activity zone. Over 30 live robot demonstrations impressed fairgoers, while renowned robotics firms such as Unitree Robotics and Booster Robotics presented updates on their latest innovations.

Chinese Mainland exhibitor Ascentiz launched the world's first modular exoskeleton at the fair designed to enhance mobility for the elderly and people with physical impairments, while local start-up SOTA Robotics demonstrated its humanoid performing robot CURI Gen2. Engineer Jack Fan said that his company’s participation had been fruitful, citing direct engagement with potential investors in the UK, Pakistan and China.

Displays from leading mainland tech enterprises — including Deep Robotics and BrainCo from Hangzhou and Shenzhen’s DIGIT and PaXini — turned heads for their bold innovations, generating significant orders.

Co-Founder of Shenzhen-based robot and sensor maker PaXini Technology Xiangru Nie said the company had secured orders from companies in Southeast Asia and drawn interest from manufacturers in Germany, the US and the UK, an outcome far beyond his initial expectations.

Adding a touch of novelty, Hi-Dolphin Robot Technology from Shanghai impressed visitors with its robot barista capable of crafting intricate coffee-foam art. The company’s sales manager Elijah Yu revealed that a Turkish client had placed orders worth nearly half a million US dollars and the team had ended the fair with hundreds of promising leads.

Broad international participation

For exhibitors beyond China, the fairs’ exposure to the Asian market proved to be a compelling drawcard. Director of Canadian precision measurement tool provider Siborg Systems Michael Obrecht said he had connected with a broad spectrum of potential buyers, particularly in key Asian markets such as India, Indonesia and Japan.

Buyer participation from Australia, Brazil, Japan and Spain saw notable year-on-year growth, underscoring the fairs’ global appeal and strategic importance.

Buyers from emerging markets also demonstrated strong interest. Hanafaiah Yussof, CEO of Malaysia-based robotics supplier Robopreneur, shared that he had met suppliers from the mainland, Europe and Japan and anticipated placing orders of US$2 million.

His enthusiasm was echoed by Neelesh Bhatia, CEO of UAE trading company FZC, who projected spending up to US$1.5 million on products including automotive touch panels, audio systems and beauty devices.

More than 100 seminars, forums and live demonstrations enriched the exhibition programme, featuring prominent speakers who shared insights into industry trends and nascent technology applications.

Among the highlights was a seminar on e-commerce trends in the Eurasian electronics market featuring experience-sharing from mainland online marketplaces JD.com and Lazada, as well as Pepita Group from Hungary, while business-matching services were also provided to help exhibitors connect with potential partners.

To facilitate ongoing business opportunities, the Click2Match AI-driven matching platform will remain active until 23 October, allowing exhibitors and buyers to continue discussions beyond the fair venue.

The momentum for global sourcing will continue in late October with a trio of major trade shows kicking off on 27 October — the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo and Eco Expo Asia.

These exhibitions are set to attract global buyers, manufacturers and leaders eager to connect, collaborate and shape the future of sustainable development and tech-driven living.
