Opening on 16 January, the HKTDC Education and Careers Expo will gather a wide range of educational institutions, government departments and leading companies to provide information about study and career opportunities to young people and lifelong learners.
The expo comes at a time of the year when many students and parents are thinking about post-study opportunities, whether full-time employment, internships or further studies.
It is also an ideal time for working professionals who may be considering a career change or seek training and upgrading opportunities.
The Careers zone will feature major recruiting organisations and employers from a wide range of industries including the Airport Authority of Hong Kong, Civil Service Bureau, Fire Services Department, Hong Kong Police Force, community organisations, banks and recruitment and career platforms.
A series of talks by staff from a range of government departments will be held over all four days for those interested in a public service career.
In addition, recruitment platforms will offer advice on job applications and conduct a “CV clinic” using artificial intelligence to review resumes.
In the Education section, education and training organisations will include Hong Kong and Macao-based colleges and universities, test preparation and language centres, coaching and tutoring schools, and training centres for industries such as construction, design and healthcare.
New study programmes presented by institutions at this year’s fair include the Bachelor of Applied Gerontology offered by Tung Wah College and the Vocational Training Council’s Higher Diploma in Tourism and Mega Event Management. Both programmes seek to cater to popular demand in the Hong Kong employment market.
For students interested in studying outside Hong Kong and Macao, exhibitors from 21 countries and regions across Europe, America, Asia and Mainland China will include consulates, universities, education centres and advisors.
Alongside the exhibition, a stimulating programme of talks, demonstrations and seminars will be held. Highlights include seminars on careers in the film, hospitality and travel industries, jobs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and experience-sharing by former athletes making their marks in industry and society.
The expo will run from 16 to 19 January at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and admission is free.
