Making inroads into the metaverse

This HKTDC Research seminar and workshop will help SMEs consider new ways to build their digital assets.


WHAT: The rise of the metaverse is set to change the way individuals and businesses interact with the real world. This seminar/workshop, titled “Exploring the Metaverse: Creating Digital Assets”, will examine how a Hong Kong-based global leader in games, blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI), is spearheading the creation of a user-generated content ecosystem to ensure its home city can continue to thrive in a new decentralised digital era.

WHO: Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council

WHY: Speakers include Simeon Woo, Economist (Global Research), HKTDC Research, who provides insights into a broad range of product and service sectors, including textiles, fur, leather goods, jewellery, gifts/premiums, toys, design and film/entertainment.

He will be joined by Erich Wong, Head of Growth (Hong Kong) for The Sandbox, who responsible for developing the company’s business across the Greater China Region and building partnerships with key brands and intellectual property entities in order to nurture a large and enthusiastic metaverse community. Mr Wong is currently looking to establish a creator community that will see The Sandbox working with local universities and many creative and design institutions to promote cutting-edge 3D design and bolster the development of the metaverse ecosystem.

The seminar moderator will be Louis Chan, Principal Economist (Global Research), HKTDC Research.
