The Hong Kong Forum—the annual gathering of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC)—concluded on 3 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The event brought together over 320 business leaders from 33 countries and regions to explore how enterprises can leverage Hong Kong’s unique advantages to drive business growth.
The Federation is a network of 49 business associations across 38 countries and regions representing a membership of some 11,000 business executives and professionals.
Through a programme of keynote speeches, networking activities and local visits, the Forum provided fresh insights and practical information on doing business in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
Discussions also highlighted how Hong Kong attracts talent and fosters innovative thinking across industries, driving transformation and creating new opportunities.
HKTDC Executive Director Sophia Chong shared updates on the organisation’s latest initiatives including its role in the GoGlobal Task Force. Leveraging its 13 mainland offices, HKTDC will connect mainland enterprises with service providers in Hong Kong, including financial, legal, IP and accounting professionals, and match them with partners and buyers in target overseas markets.
“This will create opportunities for not only Hong Kong companies, but also Federation members across business, finance, I&T and the creative industries,“ she noted.
HKTDC Chairman Professor Frederick Ma mentioned that the HKTDC will launch a Global Business Summit at its flagship Asian Financial Forum in January 2026. The initiative aims to engage commercial leaders across industries—particularly in high-growth sectors—and create connections between business operations and financial solution providers.
Other speakers shared insights on key topics, including how international enterprises can leverage Hong Kong as a strategic springboard for global market expansion, how creativity and innovation can inject new momentum into Hong Kong’s economic and cultural development, and the challenges of building sustainable businesses.
Speakers included representatives from the government, commercial and innovation sectors, such as the HKSAR Government Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, Merck Healthcare, Venchi Asia Pacific, Equinix, Nan Fung Group, WeLab, InnoBlock Technology, Christie’s and several tech start-ups.
A new initiative featuring local visits to the city’s innovation and cultural landmarks, including the Data Technology Hub at Hong Kong Science Park, the Advanced Manufacturing Centre, and the M+ Museum was well-received by participants. Dedicated sessions for young members offering mentoring, guidance and networking opportunities, also proved highly popular.
