Over 300 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions will gather at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from 28 to 31 October for Eco Expo Asia, the region’s premier trade exhibition dedicated to promoting environmentally conscious technologies and solutions.

Presented by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the event is an annual highlight for industry professionals across the region eager to explore the latest sustainability-related innovations.

Thousands of buyers from across Asia — including China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam — as well as from Europe, including Hungary and Poland, are expected to attend.

Innovations in waste, mobility, services on show

Under the theme Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality, the exhibition will feature products and solutions across three main areas: Circular Economy and Waste Management, Green & Smart Mobility, and ESG-related Services.

In Circular Economy and Waste Management, Hong Kong company Green AI Technology will showcase a smart waste sorting bin, while China Everbright Environment returns with waste-to-energy solutions promoting sustainable urban development.

In Green & Smart Mobility, Luquos Energy — a start-up incubated at the Chinese University of Hong Kong — will showcase the world’s first commercialised sulphur-based flow battery system. Alongside on-site displays of electric vehicles and charging facilities, Chinese Mainland-based company Infore Enviro will present an electric compactor truck.

Service providers helping companies with ESG disclosure and low-carbon transformation will exhibit, while research organisations and start-ups will present their latest innovations, such as local start-up Formwork IO which produces carbon-negative materials for construction.

This year’s Expo will feature a strong international presence, with exhibitors from Korea and Italy participating as a group for the first time alongside the return of exhibitors from Norway, the Netherlands and Canada.

Exhibitors from the Chinese Mainland include cities from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and beyond, alongside the debut of the ANSO Environmental Technology Industry Alliance presenting technologies related to water resources and the atmospheric environment.

Local organisations will also be active with the Environment and Ecology Bureau, Environmental Campaign Committee, Environmental Protection Department, Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks mounting dedicated displays.

Conference spotlights circular economy

Held alongside the fair, the Eco Asia Conference will present the latest insights on environmental issues from officials and experts with a particular focus on the circular economy, and sustainability in the construction and transportation industries.

On 29 October, experts and representatives from gas suppliers and technology companies will discuss the latest frontier hydrogen energy technologies at the Hydrogen Economy Forum

The final day of Eco Expo Asia on 31 October will be open to the public for free and feature seminars, workshops and a marketplace for green products.

Concurrent with the Expo, the HKTDC will host the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo at AsiaWorld-Expo with complimentary shuttle services linking the venues.

Exhibitors and buyers can also connect via the Click2Match virtual business matching platform between 21 October and 7 November.
