Innovative enterprises from Hong Kong showcased the latest applications and solutions in AI, robotics, IoT and greentech at this year’s GITEX Global, one of the world’s largest tech exhibitions, which was held in Dubai earlier this month.
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) joined hands to stage two pavilions at GITEX Global 2025, helping 22 companies from Hong Kong’s vibrant innovation and technology (I&T) sector tap into growing markets in the Middle East and beyond.
Hong Kong-based Robocore Technology, which creates robotics products and solutions for a variety of sectors, forged connections with more than 250 Middle Eastern companies over the five-day exhibition at GITEX Global.
“Many buyers expressed interest in purchasing our robots or becoming local distributors,” stated CEO Roy Lam.
Mr Lam also plans to help set up an AI and Robotics Center in Oman after meeting Omani authorities at GITEX.
An MoU to co-establish this new resource – which aims to advance localised talent training and certification, while implementing cross-departmental pilot projects – was subsequently signed in Hong Kong.
Middle East growth opportunities
To help exhibitors broaden their networks and explore new business opportunities, the HTKDC also organised pitching sessions to investors, businesses and government agencies at GITEX, as well as a networking dinner in collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (ETO) in Dubai.
Following the networking dinner, Winnie Leung, Founder of AI specialist WYNI Technology, highlighted the business potential for her company in the Middle East.
“The HKTDC has bridged the gap between Hong Kong’s I&T enterprises and the Middle East market, by helping us to establish contacts locally to understand the diverse opportunities and challenges, and by connecting us with local banks and companies to advance business expansion efforts,” she remarked.
Another exhibitor, Canpanion Group, which offers edtech and mental health solutions, engaged with a local education company during the networking dinner. Both parties are looking at different ways to integrate Canpanion’s technology into inclusive education and will further explore collaboration opportunities with the help of the ETO in Dubai.
HKSTP’s pavilion at start-up and investor event Expand North Star, which ran concurrently with GITEX in Dubai, featured innovations from 10 companies. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also participated in the exhibition to highlight its technological achievements and business solutions.
The HKTDC continues to lead Hong Kong businesses in participating in major international tech exhibitions, helping local start-ups expand overseas while reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a global I&T hub.
Following GITEX Global 2025, the HKTDC will organise pavilions next year to help I&T companies showcase their cutting-edge technologies to local, regional and global audiences in the US at CES in January, in Spain at MWC in March and in France at VivaTech in June.
