WHAT: The theme for this year’s event is Sci-Fi and Mystery, with the tagline “Reading the World • When Fantasy Meets Reality”. Major exhibit categories at the 30th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair include Books and Publications; Children's and Teen's Books; Religious & Spirituality Books; Stationery & Art & Crafts Products; e-Books & e-Learning Resources: e-Book Readers, Audio Visual Learning Aids, Educational Software; Learning Centres; Hobby Goods and Multimedia Products. Events during the exhibition include seminars and presentations by authors. This year the Art Gallery features four special zones.

(available for sale at the fairground only each day)
Re-entry promotion: Regular tickets dated 17 and 18 July can enjoy one-time free admission on 19, 20 or 21 July after 5pm by presenting the whole stub attached to the admission ticket.Children under 3 and adults over 65 will be admitted free of charge.

There will be no admission to the venue 45 minutes before the announced daily closing time of the fair.

The HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo will be held concurrently with Book Fair. Ticket holders of the Hong Kong Book Fair can visit both fairs on the same day.WHO: Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development CouncilWHY: In addition to an impressive array of books and other media products, visitors will be able to attend the Art Gallery, in which a zone entitled "A Literary Journey Across Boundless Dimensions" will introduce nine Hong Kong authors. The "Theme of the Year: Sci-Fi and Mystery" seminar series will have close interaction with book lovers as the authors share the stories behind their creative works and talk about the development of science fiction in Hong Kong in the early days.The "Light and Shadows – the Finest Cantonese Artistry" zone will showcase the paintings and ceramics from Lingnan (a region in southern China) and pictures from Guangdong province taken by famous photographers, allowing readers to appreciate the culture and customs of this beautiful place.In celebration of the 30th edition of the Hong Kong Book Fair, the "30 Years of Literary Delights" zone will showcase precious pictures, printed matters and souvenirs related to previous editions of the fair so that readers can witness its changes over the years.The "In Between Covers – Reminiscences through an Ex Libris" zone commemorates the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Ex Libris Association. Selected local and overseas ex libris, exquisite ex libris, member collections, small block printing machines and wood board painting tools will be on display. A talk on ex libris will allow the audience to understand and learn how to appreciate ex libris, helping this art to continue to develop in Hong Kong. This year’s Book Fair features eight seminar series including “Theme of the Year: Sci-Fi and Mystery”, “Renowned Writers”, “English Reading and Creative Writing”, “World of Knowledge”, “Children and Youth Reading”, “Personal Development and Spiritual Growth”, “Lifestyle” and “Hong Kong Cultural & Historical Seminar Series”, as well as a series of topical seminars organised by the Hong Kong Publishing Federation.Renowned writers from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong have been invited to attend a series of seminars.Overseas authors speaking at the English Reading and Creative Writing series include established as well as up-and-coming writers, with topics ranging from “Books are more powerful than movies” (by Swedish-based novelist Will Dean) to “How to get three million children to fall asleep” (by another Scandinavian author, Carl-Johan Forssén Ehrlin).WHERE: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
