Packed schedule includes four themed days, 100+ activities.

Listen

More than 860 educational institutions, government departments and private enterprises are set to attend this year’s HKTDC Education & Careers Expo, which will be held in Hong Kong later this month.

Representatives from these organisations, spanning 23 countries and regions, will share the latest information on further studies and career opportunities, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as an education hub and talent centre.

The Expo, themed ‘Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits’, will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 22 to 25 January.

During the Expo, organisers will host four themed days: Civil Servants & Public Services, Next Gen Technologies, Healthcare & Wellness, and Greater Bay Area Opportunities.

A packed schedule features more than 100 activities. Industry experts will provide insights across a wide range of areas, from innovation and technology to public service careers to working holiday programmes.

To help job seekers better understand their personal strengths and attributes when planning their careers, the popular CV Clinic service has been upgraded with additional consultations and evaluations.

At the same time, themed talks and seminars will guide students through employment and development opportunities in Hong Kong.

Highlight seminars include ‘A Date with Giants’, featuring enterprises such as J.P. Morgan and Lenovo. In another session, young people from the Chinese Mainland will share their experiences on education and employment in Hong Kong.

In addition, the principal of the Hong Kong Chinese Women’s Club College will join two alumni to share tips on achieving top results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE).

Education and personal development

The Expo’s Education section comprises four zones: Local Studies, Non-Hong Kong Education, Lifelong Learning and Youth.

The Local Studies zone brings together tertiary institutions and vocational and professional education providers. Some institutions will introduce new application-oriented programmes, including robotics and automation engineering, to meet growing industry demand.

The Non-Hong Kong Education zone comprises Hong Kong-based consulates, overseas universities and education consultancies to help students plan their overseas study pathways.

The Lifelong Learning and Youth zones offer education and industry information for working professionals, career switchers and young people.

The Employees Retraining Board will introduce training programmes across multiple industries, while offering consultation services on technology and vocational skills.

The Professional Communication Association will share insights on public speaking, debating and job interview techniques.

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the Hong Kong Youth Exchange Promotion United Association will provide career planning support, summer job opportunities and internship placements.

Recruitment and talent

The Expo also serves as a recruitment platform.

A Recruitment Square will offer employment information and support services, with some employers conducting interviews onsite to enable job seekers to apply directly.

Meanwhile, more than 30 government departments and public organisations will set up booths in the Expo’s Careers zone.

“The Careers section provides a platform for government departments, public institutions and the business sector to recruit talent,” notes Smilely Lam, Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

“Through exchanges with representatives from international organisations, the Expo supports Hong Kong’s development as an international hub for high-calibre talent.”
