JORDAN: Foreign Worker Permit Fees Reduced
21 January 2022
Jordan is lowering permit fees for a variety of foreign workers. According to a 3 January 2022 release, the Ministry of Labour has reduced the general fee for new work permits for non-Jordanians to JOD400 (US$564) from JOD500. This rate also applies to permits for domestic workers. Permit fees for foreign workers in the construction, loading and agricultural sectors have been lowered to JOD850. Fees for foreign workers in the garments and clothes industry, however, have remained the same at JOD275.
Reductions in fees have also been made to enable investors and private sector employers to hire experts from outside the Kingdom. Rates for highly specialised workers have been cut to JOD2,200 from JOD2,500. Two new permit categories for short-term employment have been introduced: six-months for JOD1,300; and three-months for JOD695.
