SME-Focused Stock Exchange to Open in Beijing
03 September 2021
A new stock exchange, with a focus on innovation-oriented small and medium-sized firms, is to be launched in Beijing. The news was announced by Xi Jinping, the Chinese President, as part of his address to the Global Trade and Services Summit, a key part of this year’s China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which opened in the capital on Thursday (2 September). It is believed that the new exchange will play an integral role in helping smaller business raise capital in line with the mainland government’s commitment to promoting wider wealth distribution.
The new exchange will be the mainland’s third, with bourses already in operation in both Shanghai and Shenzhen.
