China Signs AEO Mutual Recognition Arrangements with Chile and Iran
04 June 2021
The General Administration of Customs recently signed agreements on the mutual recognition of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status with the customs administrations of Chile and Iran. These agreements allow Chinese AEOs to enjoy customs facilitation measures in Chile and Iran, including: lower document review rates and lower inspection rates of imported goods; prioritised customs inspection for goods that require physical inspection; communication with designated customs liaison officers on customs clearance issues; and prioritised customs clearance after the suspension and resumption of international trade.
China has to date signed AEO mutual recognition agreements with 19 economies, including Singapore and South Korea. It is actively promoting negotiations on AEO mutual recognition with Russia and other countries along the Belt and Road routes.
