03 May 2021
On 25 April, the Guangdong provincial government unveiled the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Outline Plan of Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 on its website (Yue Fu No. 28 ). The plans focus on the leading role of the “two areas”, that is, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen, with the GBA serving as the main platform and a powerful engine leading and driving the whole province in promoting the high-quality development of the national economy. The two areas will take part in domestic and international dual circulation at a higher level, create strategic pilots for the new development pattern, and provide Guangdong with more dynamic support for building socialist modernisation in an all-round way.
