China Grants Zero Tariff Treatment on 97% of Taxable Goods from Solomon Islands
17 March 2021
China announced zero tariff treatment has been offered to 97% of taxable goods originating from the Solomon Islands (Customs Tariff Commission Announcement No. 1 [2021]) since 1 February 2021, saying that this is in line with its commitment to the least developed countries based on the exchange of notes between the two countries. These 97% of taxable goods refer to a total of 8,281 taxable items, including 8,097 items under those marked with “Beneficiary Country LD (least developed)” and 184 items marked with “Beneficiary Country 1LD1” in the Preferential Tariff Rate column of the Tariff Schedule of the People’s Republic of China for Imports and Exports (2021).
