China Grants Zero Tariff Treatment on 97% of Taxable Goods from Solomon Islands

China announced zero tariff treatment has been offered to 97% of taxable goods originating from the Solomon Islands (Customs Tariff Commission Announcement No. 1 [2021]) since 1 February 2021, saying that this is in line with its commitment to the least developed countries based on the exchange of notes between the two countries. These 97% of taxable goods refer to a total of 8,281 taxable items, including 8,097 items under those marked with “Beneficiary Country LD (least developed)” and 184 items marked with “Beneficiary Country ₁LD₁” in the Preferential Tariff Rate column of the Tariff Schedule of the People’s Republic of China for Imports and Exports (2021).
