Guangzhou Backs Innovation in Services

The General Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government recently issued a plan for a pilot programme that will strengthen innovation in the city’s service sector (Sui Fu Ban Han No. 115 [2020]). The plan calls for efforts towards further opening-up of the sector to cross-border inputs, enhancing the digital business environment, exploring innovative development models, and improving fiscal and financial support measures.

The plan also introduces a number of measures relating to Hong Kong and Macao, including the simplification of certification and mutual recognition of qualifications in several professional sectors. Financial institutions in Hong Kong and Macao will be encouraged to develop business in Guangzhou, and efforts will be made to explore the model of staging an exhibition at two or more locations concurrently.
