China Unveils Technical Research Guidelines for TCM Compound

On 26 November, the National Medical Products Administration issued a set of technical guidelines, for research studies on the production of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compounds that use herbal decoction methods.

Under the guidelines, any such studies must be conducted in line with traditional TCM theories and the general rules of traditional medication knowledge. They must also use modern research methods and reasonable test designs and assessment indicators. The use of new technologies, new methods and new auxiliary materials is also encouraged. The guidelines took effect on the day of issuance.
