Guangdong Releases Safety Guidelines for Selling of Food

On 19 November, the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation issued a circular containing food safety guidelines on the primary responsibility of food sellers in Guangdong and food safety guidelines for entities involved in selling food in Guangdong (Yue Shi Jian Shi Jing No. 646 [2020]). The two guidelines specify the main food safety responsibilities of food sellers, operators of various types of markets (exhibitions) and other food dealers and relevant points of attention.
The circular requires the provision of guidance to food sellers in making self-inspection in writing, being law-abiding in their operation, accepting social supervision, and continuously improving their food safety management in accordance with the guidelines.
