E-commerce Platforms Required to Improve Seven-day Unconditional Return Rules
26 November 2020
On 3 November, the State Administration for Market Regulation released revised interim measures for seven-day unconditional returns of goods purchased online. Reflecting reforms to government institutions and functions, the relevant text replaces “administrative departments of industry and commerce” and “State Administration for Industry and Commerce” with “departments for market regulation” and “State Administration for Market Regulation” respectively. Article 22 of the revised measures requires e-commerce platform operators to improve their seven-day unconditional return rules. Under revised Article 32, e-commerce platform operators will be punished in accordance with the provisions of the E-Commerce Law for violating the relevant measures.
