China to Boost Consumption in Key Sectors and “Internet+ Tourism”
20 November 2020
The State Council executive meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang on 18 November made deployments to boost consumption in commodities and key sectors and tap rural consumption potential. The meeting also decided on a host of measures to support “Internet+ Tourism” to cater to people’s demands in consumption upgrading. The meeting pointed out that consumption is the main growth engine, but notable difficulties remain in restoring normal growth because consumption is seriously impacted by the pandemic this year. The following measures were proposed:
- Stabilising and expanding auto sales
- Promoting consumption in home appliances, furniture and home furnishings
- Bolstering catering consumption
- Expanding county and township consumption to spur rural consumption
