Shenzhen Promotes Accelerated Development of E-Commerce
13 November 2020
The General Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government recently released several measures promoting the accelerated development of e-commerce in the city (Shen Fu Ban Gui No. 9 [2020]). The measures, aimed at fostering a new engine for economic development in a post-Covid ‘new normal’, include:
- Accelerating the sector’s development by fostering domestic e-commerce platform operators (with legal person status) and giving existing large e-commerce platforms market access
- Promoting e-commerce applications by building a number of e-commerce clusters in industrial parks
- Enhancing cross-border e-commerce by improving cross-border customs clearance and driving innovation in cross-border e-commerce supervision and services
- Increasing government support for services by implementing preferential tax policies and optimising the business climate for e-commerce
The above measures are effective for five years starting from 26 October 2020.
