China Customs to Launch Preferential Tariff Certificate of Origin Issuance System

According to an announcement recently issued by the General Administration of Customs (No. 94 [2020]), a preferential tariff certificate of origin issuance system will go into trial operation online starting from 10 September for the least developed countries that have diplomatic relations with China. Initially, the online application function will be opened to the certificate of origin issuing authorities of Bangladesh, Niger, Ethiopia, Mozambique and East Timor. Certificates issued online will have the letter “E” prefix. Consignees of the imported goods or their agents may apply for the entitled preferential tariff by quoting the number of the “E”-prefixed certificate of origin.
