Hong Kong as an Advisory Service Base to Facilitate Cross-Regional Business
05 June 2020
Hong Kong-based telecommunications company, HGC, uses Hong Kong as its advisory service base to facilitate cross-regional business expansion. Extensive relationship networks in Southeast Asian countries are essential to support Hong Kong’s unique position of multi-client enabling. For instance, HGC assisted one of the largest Chinese internet companies to tap into the emerging ASEAN countries.
An international fixed line operator
HGC Global Communications Limited (HGC) is a Hong Kong based international fixed line operator that owns an extensive network and infrastructure in Hong Kong and overseas. The company provides full-fledged telecommunications, data centre services, information and communications technology (ICT) solutions and broadband services for local, overseas, corporate and mass markets. HGC has served as a pioneer in capturing untapped telecommunications business in Southeast Asia, helping to pave a gateway for local businesses to the international economy to meet the trend of globalisation and digitalisation.
Enabling Chinese tech giants to expand in ASEAN
Extensive relationship networks in Southeast Asian countries are essential to support Hong Kong’s unique position of multi-client enabling. For instance, HGC assisted one of the largest Chinese internet companies to tap into the emerging ASEAN countries by sending in experienced teams to set up infrastructure, providing training to local staff as well as dealing with the business side of negotiating terms and closing deals because of Hong Kong’s familiarity of local culture, regulations and experience.
Full suite of ICT solutions and digital services to ASEAN and around the globe
In August 2019, HGC acquired Macroview Telecom Limited (Macroview), a leading digital technology and IT infrastructure solutions provider in Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China. This will further accelerate HGC’s digital transformation path and create an ICT and digital services leader that will provide local and overseas corporations and operators with a comprehensive suite of solutions around the world including the Greater Bay Area.
According to Rainbow Wong, Vice President - Corporate Business of HGC. “Combining HGC’s diverse local and international business portfolio with Macroview’s market-leading capabilities in providing digital technology solutions will further enhance HGC group as the trusted IT partner of choice for local and overseas customers who expect sophisticated IT infrastructure solutions and services as well as business expansion in the region.”
Boosting connectivity and collaboration in GBA
HGC entered into an agreement with China Telecom in 2018 to establish an industry-first Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge network interconnection system. The bridge is expected to enhance economic connection across the region and act as a catalyst for collaboration. Customers will benefit from the stable and reliable cross border services, meeting the ever increasing demands in the Greater Bay Area and neighbouring regions.
