China Releases Master Plan of Hainan Free Trade Port

The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council recently released the Master Plan for the Hainan Free Trade Port to accelerate the development of a high-level free trade port with Chinese characteristics in accordance with the requirements of the guidelines of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on supporting the comprehensive reform and opening up of Hainan. The plan covers the whole island and aims to basically establish a free trade port system focusing on trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation by 2025. Further down the road, it aims to achieve the liberalisation and facilitation of trade, investment, cross-border capital flows, movement of persons, transportation, and secure and orderly flow of data by 2035 and build the island into a globally-influential high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.
