The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has announced that the additional 10 percent tariff that the United States had been expected to impose as of 1 September on virtually all of the remaining US$300 billion worth of goods imported from mainland China that are not already subject to Section 301 tariffs (List 4 goods) will be applied in two stages and that certain products will be exempted from the tariffs based on health, safety, national security and other factors.
