Customs Clearance Eased to Promote Development of CR Express
20 March 2020
The Party Committee of the General Administration of Customs recently issued 10 measures to promote economic and trade relations with countries along the Belt and Road routes. They are designed to reduce the customs declaration costs, strengthen the construction of hub stations, and promote the development of multimodal transport businesses. These measures include:
- Allowing enterprises to choose their preferred customs clearance mode. Besides undergoing quarantine at port of entry, an enterprise may choose to go through customs clearance for goods on the China-Europe Railway Express (CR Express) at either port of entry or exit, or go through these procedures in their territories.
- Allowing enterprises using the CR Express to apply to customs for bill consolidation in order to reduce the number of declarations and declaration costs.
- Exerting greater efforts to implement a partnership programme allowing customs and railway operators to promote safe and rapid customs clearance on the CR Express.
