MIIT Issues 2020 Plan for Monitoring High Energy Consumption Industries
18 February 2020
In accordance with the Industrial Green Development Plan (2016-2020), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently issued a 2020 Work Plan for Key Tasks in Monitoring Industrial Energy Conservation. Monitoring of energy consumption in major high energy consumption industries will be conducted with reference to energy conservation quotes across a range of industry sectors.
These include petrochemical and chemical industries such as oil refining; the production of xylene, sodium carbonate, polyvinyl chloride, sulfuric acid, tyres and methanol; the non-ferrous metal industries, including gold smelting, rare earth smelting and processing, and the processing of aluminum alloys, copper and copper alloys; the building materials industry, including production of building plaster, sintering materials, bituminous waterproofing rolls, rockwool and mineral wool; and light industries such as sugar and beer manufacturing (see Appendix 1 of the Plan).
Other energy conservation monitoring projects include:
- Special monitoring of the implementation of the tiered electricity tariff policy
- Special monitoring of energy efficiency enhancements in major energy-consuming products and equipment
- Special monitoring of energy efficiency in data centres
