Measures for Administration of Mandatory National Standards to Take Effect in June

In accordance with the Standardisation Law of the People’s Republic of China, the State Administration for Market Regulation has recently formulated and promulgated the Measures for the Administration of Mandatory National Standards (Order No. 25 of the State Administration for Market Regulation) to strengthen the administration of mandatory national standards by regulating the formulation, implementation and oversight of such standards. The administrative department of standardisation under the State Council shall administer the standardisaton work across the country in a unified manner and shall take charge of the project initiation, numbering and external notification of mandatory national standards. Mandatory national standards shall be approved and promulgated by or as authorised by the State Council.
The coding of mandatory national standards is made up of the national standard code (GB), the serial number and the approval year. The text of mandatory national standards is available through the National Mandatory Standard Information Public Service Platform free of charge 20 days after their promulgation. The Measures shall come into force on 1 June 2020.
