Brazil and Mainland China Finalise Deal on Mutual Recognition of AEO Programmes
05 November 2019
Brazil and mainland China on 25 October signed a mutual recognition agreement of their respective authorised economic operator programmes. AEO programmes certify foreign trade operators and other stakeholders in an effort to enhance the security and reliability of a country’s import and export processes. Achieving mutual recognition between the Brazilian and mainland Chinese programmes is expected to significantly facilitate bi-lateral trade because traders certified as authorised in mainland China will be recognised as low-risk in Brazil, and vice versa. According to Brazilian authorities, this MRA is one of the first concrete outcomes of the agreement on mutual assistance in customs matters that Brazil and mainland China signed in June 2012 and implemented last year.
