Guangdong to Subsidise BRI and GBA Investment Participants
04 October 2019
Guangdong is to provide subsidies to companies and chambers of commerce participating in events related to designated foreign investment programmes. On the back of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the move is intended to support businesses taking part in foreign investment activities related to countries along the proposed routes of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), including those geared to potential trading partners in Europe, North America, the ASEAN bloc and the wider Pacific region, which took place between 1 August 2018 and 30 June 2019.
In the case of companies, up to RMB20,000 (US$2,800) is on offer per event, while individual chambers are eligible for up to RMB40,000. The maximum claimed, however, cannot exceed 80% of the actual expenses incurred.
Such subsidies are used to cover expenditure related to the following:
- Vaccines / medical cover
Full details of the initiative can be found in Yue Shang Wu Cu Han No. 230 , as issued by the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province with regard to the comprehensive implementation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
