WHAT: Hosted in Hong Kong, the commercial hub of the Belt and Road – and extended to two days for the first time – the 2019 Belt and Road Summit is a premier international platform for promoting business collaboration along the Belt and Road. The Summit gathers senior government officials and business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral cooperation and explore concrete business opportunities. The summit will comprise a high-level symposium with plenary sessions, along with a series of thematic breakout forums focusing on practical issues related to specific industries and markets, covering topics related to financing, investment, legal issues, infrastructure and technology as well as geopolitics, risk management, human capital, small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

WHO: Organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development CouncilWHY: As well as the symposium and forums, there will be ample collaboration opportunities with one-to-one business-matching meetings, project pitching and networking sessions and exhibition zones. The 2018 summit drew more than 80 international speakers was attended by some 5,000 distinguished government officials and business leaders. The event drew approximately 100 delegations and more than 230 investment projects were on offer. There were also more than 520 business-matching meetings. The exhibition featured 100 stands showcasing the strengths of 100 organisations. Half the delegates came from Hong Kong, 29% from Mainland China and 11% from ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, with the balance coming from the rest of the world.
