Argentina Exempts Certain Public Sector Imports from Statistical Tax, Seeks to Increase Transparency of Import Regime
06 August 2019
The Argentinean government has exempted from the statistical tax imports by public entities of goods used in scientific and technological research. Applied to imports for consumption, the statistical tax has been set at 2.5 percent (subject to certain maximum caps) through the end of this year.
Concurrently, the government is requiring public entities tasked with issuing declarations, permits, certifications, licences and other authorisations required prior to import to inform the managing authority of the electronic single window for international trade operations (VUCEA) of any such requirements. The public entities in question must provide a specific list of tariff lines covered by any such requirements as well as the circumstances and specific goods that may benefit from an exemption.
