WHO: Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council

WHY: In addition to an impressive array of books and other media products, visitors will be able to attend the Art Gallery, in which a zone entitled "A Literary Journey Across Boundless Dimensions" will introduce nine Hong Kong authors. The "Theme of the Year: Sci-Fi and Mystery" seminar series will have close interaction with book lovers as the authors share the stories behind their creative works and talk about the development of science fiction in Hong Kong in the early days.

The "Light and Shadows – the Finest Cantonese Artistry" zone will showcase the paintings and ceramics from Lingnan (a region in southern China) and pictures from Guangdong province taken by famous photographers, allowing readers to appreciate the culture and customs of this beautiful place.

In celebration of the 30th edition of the Hong Kong Book Fair, the "30 Years of Literary Delights" zone will showcase precious pictures, printed matters and souvenirs related to previous editions of the fair so that readers can witness its changes over the years.

The "In Between Covers – Reminiscences through an Ex Libris" zone commemorates the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Ex Libris Association. Selected local and overseas ex libris, exquisite ex libris, member collections, small block printing machines and wood board painting tools will be on display. A talk on ex libris will allow the audience to understand and learn how to appreciate ex libris, helping this art to continue to develop in Hong Kong.

This year’s Book Fair features eight seminar series including “Theme of the Year: Sci-Fi and Mystery”, “Renowned Writers”, “English Reading and Creative Writing”, “World of Knowledge”, “Children and Youth Reading”, “Personal Development and Spiritual Growth”, “Lifestyle” and “Hong Kong Cultural & Historical Seminar Series”, as well as a series of topical seminars organised by the Hong Kong Publishing Federation.

Renowned writers from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong have been invited to attend a series of seminars.

Overseas authors speaking at the English Reading and Creative Writing series include established as well as up-and-coming writers, with topics ranging from “Books are more powerful than movies” (by Swedish-based novelist Will Dean) to “How to get three million children to fall asleep” (by another Scandinavian author, Carl-Johan Forssén Ehrlin).
