CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.
Amazon has recalled some 260,000 portable power banks because their battery can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards. This recall involves six versions of AmazonBasics’ portable lithium-ion battery chargers/power banks: 16,100 mAh, 10,000 mAh, 5,600 mAh, 2,000 mAh with micro USB cable, 3,000 mAh and 3,000 mAh with USB micro cable. The rubberised or metallic power banks are black and rectangular. They measure about three inches long by 1.4 inch high by 0.9 inch wide and were sold with or without a USB charger cable and a carrying pouch. The AmazonBasics logo is printed on the front of the unit while product ID number B00LRK8EVO, B00LRK8HJ8, B00LRK8I7O, B00LRK8IV0, B00LRK8JDC or B00ZQ4JQAA is printed on the back of the unit. These products were sold at Amazon.com, Amazon Bookstores and Amazon Pop-Up Stores from December 2014 through July 2017.
Radio Flyer is recalling about 5,000 children’s electric wagons because improper wiring can activate the wagon’s motor unintentionally, posing an injury hazard. This recall involves Radio Flyer’s eWagon children’s battery-operated electric wagons. When force is applied to the wagon’s electric handle the motor activates to power the wagon. The foldable wagon is constructed of red and grey fabric and a steel frame and measures about 41 inches long, 25 inches wide and 42 inches tall. It has a removable canopy, two seats with seatbelts, four cup holders, a storage pouch, a removable battery and a telescoping handle where the power button is. The Radio Flyer logo is printed on each side of the wagon. Only wagons with model number 3912/3912A, which can be found on the handle warning label located near the pivoting joint, are included in this recall. These wagons were sold at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide and on-line at www.radioflyer.com and www.toysrus.com from August 2017 through January 2018.
Cameron Company has issued a recall for about 84,000 children’s tents because the fibreglass rod that supports the tent can break, splinter and become sharp, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. This recall involves Playtime Pals Pop-Up Hideaway Hut animal themed children’s tents. The tents have four animal themes – hippo (pink), dog (brown), shark (blue) and tiger (orange) – as well as a fibreglass rod that springs to deploy the tent to shape and provides the support for the nylon shell. These tents were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide in November 2017.
Southwire Company LLC has announced a recall of about 24,000 Wi-Fi switches in the United States and approximately 6,000 Wi-Fi switches in Canada because they can overheat and pose a fire hazard. This recall involves the WiOn indoor in-wall Wi-Fi switch, which allows a consumer to control and monitor the lights and appliances at home or at the office with a smart phone from anywhere using a smart phone app. The product is designed to be installed into a single-switch outlet and is white in colour with the “WiOn” logo in green on the front. These switches were sold at home improvement and hardware stores nationwide as well as on-line at Amazon.com and Walmart.com.
Louis Garneau USA Inc. has recalled about 650 bicycle helmets in the United States and approximately 550 bike helmets in Canada because these helmets do not comply with federal impact requirements. This recall involves Louis Garneau course helmets sold in matte black and matte fluo yellow with model number LG1261 printed on the inside. “Garneau,” “Course” and “LG” are printed on both sides of the recalled helmets while the manufacturer’s date and serial number are printed on a sticker inside the helmet. These helmets were sold by authorised bike dealers nationwide from December 2015 through January 2018.
Battery Chargers/Hand Warmers
Beanworthy LLC has recalled about 12,700 combination battery chargers and hand warmers because the chargers can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. This recall involves Human Creations EnergyFlux and EnergyFlux Slim model battery chargers and hand warmers. They are used to recharge cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices with a USB port. They were sold in eight colours (black, grey, pink, red, orange, green, blue and white) and have “Human Creations EnergyFlux 4400 mAh” or “Human Creations EnergyFlux Slim 4400 mAh” printed on the side. The EnergyFlux 4400mAh model measures about 3.5 by 2.3 by 0.97 inches while the EnergyFlux Slim 4400mAh model measures about 4.2 by 1.7 by 1 inches. These products were sold exclusively at Amazon.com from October 2015 through February 2016.
Pacifier and Teether Holders
Handi-Craft has issued a recall for some 590,000 pacifier and teether holders in the United States and about 10,500 pacifier and teether holders in Canada because the snap can detach from the pacifier’s ribbon, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves Dr. Brown’s Lovey pacifier and teether holders sold in eight styles: Giraffe, Zebra, Turtle, Reindeer (special holiday edition), Frog (special holiday edition), Spring Bunny (special holiday edition), Deer and Bunny. Only holders with the following lot codes (which are printed on the tag attached to the holder) are included in this recall: RICH0615, RICH0715, RICH0815, RICH1215, RICH0516, RICH0616, RICH0716, RICH1116, RICH1016, RICH0916, RICH1216, RICH0317, RICH0417, RICH0517, RICH0617, RICH0717, RICH0817 and RICH0917. These products were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, H-E-B Grocery, K-Mart, Target, Toys “R” Us/Babies “R” Us, Wal-Mart and various other stores nationwide, as well as on-line at Amazon.com, from August 2015 through March 2018.
Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Company Inc. has recalled some 452,000 smoke alarms in the United States and about 40,000 smoke alarms in Canada because a yellow cap left on during the manufacturing process can cover one of the two smoke sensors and compromise the smoke alarm’s ability to detect smoke. This recall involves models PI2010 and PI9010 of Kidde dual sensor (photoelectric and ionisation) smoke alarms. “KIDDE” is printed on the front centre of the smoke alarm and the model number (PI9010 or Pl2010) and date code (2016 Sep. 10 through 2017 Oct. 13 or 2016 Sep. 10 through 2017 Oct. 13) are printed on the back of the alarm. These products were sold at Menards, The Home Depot, Walmart and other department, home and hardware stores nationwide, as well as on-line at Amazon.com, ShopKidde.com and other websites, from September 2016 through January 2018.
Log Splitter Accessories
SpeeCo Inc. and Woods Equipment Company have announced a recall of about 5,100 log splitter accessories in the United States and about 40 log splitter accessories in Canada because they can loosen or detach from the log splitter during operation and strike an operator or bystander. This recall involves 4-way wedge accessories used on SpeeCo, CountyLine, Country Tuff and Woods hydraulic log splitters. These log splitter accessories were sold under the SpeeCo and Woods brand names. The SpeeCo brand has model numbers 577483 and 581199 and the Woods brand has model number 581196. Brand names and model numbers are printed on the packaging. These products were made in mainland China and India and sold at Tractor Supply Company stores in the United States from July 2016 through January 2018 under the SpeeCo brand, at Orscheln Farm & Home Stores in the United States from August 2017 through January 2018 under the SpeeCo brand, and by authorised Woods dealers in the United States and Canada from August 2017 through January 2018.
