Transition Arrangements Outlined for Imported Infant Formula Registration Scheme

The transition arrangements relating to the implementation of the incoming imported infant formula registration requirements have been announced by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
Overall, the announcement focused on three key stipulations:
- All overseas manufacturers of imported infant formula products are legally obliged to register with the AQSIQ
- In the case of imported infant formula products manufactured after 1 January 2018, the overseas producer must register the ingredients and content with the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) and subsequently display the relevant registration details on the packaging of said products
- All infant formula products manufactured outwith the mainland prior to 1 January 2018 may be imported and offered for sale up until the expiry of their individual sell-by dates
