China Seeks to Establish World Class Smart Supply Chains by 2020

With a view to establishing smart supply chain systems extending across all of China’s major industrial sectors by 2020, the State Council has issued its Guiding Opinions on Actively Promoting Supply Chain Innovation and Application. Under the terms of this policy document, around 100 world class supply chain enterprises will be nurtured with the intent of establishing China as a global hub for supply chain innovation and utilisation.
The Opinions designate six particular initiatives as priorities:
- Establishing an agricultural supply chain system
- Promoting collaborative manufacturing with regard to supply chains and developing service-oriented manufacturing
- Ensuring the practical application of the supply chain concept and all relevant technology, while seeking to modernise distribution practices
- Ensuring supply chain finance serves the needs of the real economy
- Promoting green manufacturing practices and environmentally-friendly distribution models
- Making a positive effort to integrate with the global supply chain network, while also raising the security level of said global supply chain
