Guangdong Updates Green Food Certification Renewal Process

20 June 2017

The Guangdong Provincial Green Food Development Centre is now handling all applications for certification renewals, on-site inspection, verification and written examinations with regard to the production of green food within its administrative region. In line with this, work units operating under the agricultural administrative departments at the prefectural (city) level are responsible for the acceptance and preliminary examination of renewal applications from green food label users, while also co-operating with regard to any on-site inspections that may be initiated by the Provincial Green Food Development Centre. Additionally, all environmental and product testing / appraisal of green food production sites is to be undertaken by the relevant green food testing institution.

These changes are in line with the Ministry of Agriculture’s recent review of the required process for the renewal of green food certification labels and were outlined in the Detailed Rules for Green Food Certification Renewal Review, as published by the Department of Agriculture of Guangdong Province. These new guidelines came into effect as of 17 April 2017.
